I spent my Saturday doing the Max T3 Ab work out. My thoughts on it is that it's very much like the work out I did with my personal trainer when I decided to do just abs and glutes for one day. The main difference is that it surge and burst trainings, so there are breaks inbetween. A very good things that the instructor kept saying is that you will get the results from what you put into it. So when you do cheats you are cheating yourself from the results that you want. Something to definitely keep in mind.
The next morning I went to the gym and boy did my abs hurt. I did my round of squats, hack squats with cardio. Yes I have been lazy and avoiding all of this but the thing is to move to the future and continue. :)

To Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate?
http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/parenting/japan-suspends-use-of-two-vaccines-after-4-children-die-2462104
This is an interesting article that I read while reading some other articles in regards to Vaccinations. I honestly am not very educated in Vaccines but my knowledge might be that of the average person. It's been a big debate on whether or not to vaccinate your children or even yourself. There has been articles on the link between autism-vaccines, then questions on what is actually put into your vaccines.
Here are a few books that have been recommended to our patients to read in order to learn more about Vaccines:
"Don't Vaccinate! Before Your Educate" by Dr. Mayer Eisenstein MD, JD, MPH
This discuss Vaccinations in general.
"MAKE an INFORMED VACCINE DECISION" by Dr. Mayer Eisenstein MD, JD, MPH
This book is good to read because it discuss several vaccines out there and the disease. Everything is properly cited from other research which you can follow up with.
I not read these books yet and will be reading them coming up next month then I will write my own review. I know that this is a sensitive topic and will probably inspire a deep debate but one thing that I have learned is that before you do anything is to go out and do the research yourself. That includes reading from all points of views and then from there make an informed decision. That is my personal goal with everything in life and Vaccinations is no different.

Max T3 Challenge - Week 3
Ok honestly I have been lazy but that doesn't stop me from implementing exercises in my daily routine. I have to make myself be more and more consistent on using the video to implement these exercises too. Now in our office we encourage everyone to look at the 5 Essentials of Maximized Living. These includes:
1. Maximized Mind
2. Maximized Nerve Supply
3. Maximized Nutrition
4. Maximized Oxygen to the Muscle and Exercise
5. Minimizing Toxins
I wake thinking positively about everything that is going on. You have to think about the good things and how everything will get better. This will help your outlook on everything feel better. Don't let yourself stress out on things that are going on. First of all it's counter productive and second it causes subluxations. Yeah bad things happen but let it out and move on. It's the best way to be successful otherwise. If you start feeling really stressed out then take a break. A quick break helps.
Maximized Nerve Supply, ok this has Chiropractic Adjustments written all over it but that is not where it ends. In order to maximize your nerve supply it's to help yourself attain a 43-45 degree curve back in your neck. Trust me an adjustment helps but it won't optimize your goal to reaching it. To reach it you must do your traction every day which I am doing about 60 in the morning and another 60 at night. Since I'm lazy and not easily motivated to do traction, I do them in 10-15 sets. This way I can do things in between and they don't seem as long and as repetitive. So for example as soon as I get up I start off with 10-15 reps then I go brush my teeth then do another 10-15 reps, then go change and do another set. I am also starting to walk around with head weights for about 5-10 minutes while I am in the office. :) I had a -12 curve when I started here and my goal is to get a POSTIVE 43 degree curve. That is the most optimal.
Nutrition... okay so I'm not ideal as this goes. But I have become more and more aware of this since I have started. I am a bit upset now because since I have been implementing more vegetables, fruits and cutting high fructose corn syrup... my taste buds are more sensitive. I opened a box of cereal as my "on the go" food and ended up cringing... TOO MUCH SUGAR. Ouch. Then I went to Dunn Bros with my coworkers for a meeting and thought... ooo.. fruit smoothie. Yeah... not natural as I discovered as I tried to drink it. It must be mostly syrup because it was like drinking plain sugar. My diet isn't perfect and probably will never be but it's the small steps that improves my life. I have cut the fast food from my diet and so when I go for fast food I have to be careful because I get sick now. There is a really good workshop I would recommend which is the "Extreme Makeover". You learn so much about food in that workshop, another recommendation would be the Maximized Living Nutrition Plan book. I can't fully commit to a plan but I implement little by little.
Exercise is something I try to do more and more. Especially with Max T3. Keep in tune for future updates with this.
Detox? Uh... well I am avoiding more and more toxins in my diet but I have not formally done a Detox yet. We have a cell detox available in our office but I have been procrastinating trying it. I will, I promise.
So there is my blog for the day.

MaxT3 Workout -KJ- Wk 1
Here we go! I started the Max T3 workout on Monday the 27th of June. I am getting married August 5th so I decided to do the 6 day a week workout plan. I am generally a pretty in shape person but have been "too busy" lately to work out so this is really going to be a challenge for me.
Monday, warm up and then upper body. WOW! After 2 minutes of warm up I am sweating, my heart is racing, and I want to sit down. I do not have anywhere in my home to put a pull-up bar so I am using the bands. It doesn't seem too hard when you are doing it but I know that the next day I will be feeling it! 12 minutes seems to take forever when you are working out, funny how fast it goes by when you are reading or watching tv!
Tuesday, I wake up and feel like my arms are going to fall off. Funny the part that seems to hurt the most is my tri-cepts, I must not use them much. Today is LEGS! I like working out my legs! My mom has amazing legs, must be from 52 years of walking 3 miles a day! My mission is to have legs as nice as my mom! You wont see my legs much under my wedding dress because it is huge but I still am interested in working them out now! The leg workout I feel much more instantly then I did the arms. Especially when we do the exercise where we go up on our toes over and over again. Man! My calf's were burning! I loved it!
I cant wait to see whats next!

Max T3 Challenge - Week 1
Helen's Entry
So we started the challenge this week. I am doing the 3 times a week with visits to the gym. My stand point is that I already go to the gym on a weekly basis and work out with a personal trainer but my visits to the gym isn't as frequent as I would like because I am lazy. Actually my recovery from the exercises have been pretty quick, I can feel the work out. The focus seems to be muscles in interval trainings.
This morning I woke up and thought to myself, I don't wanna. I can skip one day. I still did it. Why? It's 12 minutes and that goes by quick enough. Also I have to hold myself accountable as well as Kjersti holds me accountable too.
Thanks,
Helen

Max T3 Challenge
So recently in our office we got a new shipment of Maximized Living Max T3 DVDs. It's a new exercise dvd made to encourage people to work out efficiently with 12 minute workouts. There are two programs available:
Time Crunched
Which is a 3 days a week program x 12 minutes per day = 36 minutes / week
Vintage
Which is 6 days a week program x 12 minutes per day = 72 minutes/ week
My co-worker Kjersti and I will each be doing one of the two programs and keeping you up to date with our progress. Kjersti will be utilizing the Vintage program and I will be doing the Time Crunched Program. To spice up my program I will also be visiting the gym once a week on thursdays to work with a Personal Trainer.
I know that nutrition is a big part of it too but I will try to eat as I normally do in order to keep that constant and the only change will be the Max T3 program. Wish us luck as we try to achieve our goals with this new program. :)

Why Wellness after restoring the curve?
This is an interesting question my sister asked me. It sort of sucks having to debate with my sister about chiropractic because she doesn't "believe" in it. Makes me laugh because she is a physical therapy student and so there are different opinions about chiropractic care.
We have had our arguments and I admit that I need to train myself to handle her questions better. This will be a topic that I will ask the doctors I work for to do a video on because I am sure a lot of people ask this.
When you start care and do correction eventually you get to the point for Wellness Care. That is when you come in less often just to maintain your spine the way it should be. Then my sister asked me why? If it works then why do we need to come in so often to maintain? Also how often should you be coming in for Wellness care?
Well when I talk to her tonight, after I have thought it over a bit, there are quite a few interesting points that I can bring up. Why do we brush our teeth every day? In order to take care and maintain our teeth after using it through out the day. Her come back will probably be..."well, don't you teach people how to maintain their spines properly?". We do. You have to consider the fact that just like your teeth you are constantly using your spine to do everything. The only way you aren't putting your spine through any kind of stress... wear and tear... etc... If you just lay down properly and never move. Impossibly... because you would need to get up at some point to eat, drink, walk around, relieve yourself... etc.
Next point, you go to the dentist to have your teeth cleaned. Recommended twice a year. Now think about that... if you asked a dentist if there are people who should probably get it cleaned more frequently or less frequently? They would say yes. It depends on the person and how they use their bodies.
Same thing again with exercise. You do things to maintain your body health. So why don't you just go exercise twice a year? A good hour twice a year? Is that really productive? No.. you need to be consist to continue to be healthy and get good results. So after you get that six pack you've been dying for, you don't need to work again for another 6 months right? No you need to maintain it. Just like your spine, after you get the spine fixed after 6 months a lot can happen to it.
Same thing with eating healthy. We all know that we should do it. So lets say you will eat healthy twice a year. How productive is that for your body? Not very? It's a very similar concept. In order to continue to get good results and feel great from your healthy meals, you need to be consistent on it. Let's say you work so hard on losing weight by cutting out the soda, ice cream, sugars and fats. Then you get skinny and start eating it all again and just eating healthy twice a year... Will you stay healthy skinny? I highly highly doubt it.
So since I've rambled I just wanted to let people know that chiropractic is a healthy lifetime decision. The reason why so many people who think chiropractic thinks it's just pain relief for the moment or it utterly doesn't work. It's because you aren't thinking of the Wellness Chiropractic where you take care of yourself in the long term : Fighting and Preventing Disease.
